This Month we are sad to say we lost a BROTHER, this individual was a dedicated Guardian Angel and a true BRICK. His name is Grizzly Bear Farwell, AKA to us as "SARGE", we cannot say enough to the dedication and kindness he has displayed to everybody around him. We cannot say enough about the dedication to cleaning up our streets and parks as he was passionate about making this happen and it did. We spent many nights out in the jungle dealing with pretty much every kind of personality you can think of. The Guardian Angels know what we are talking about as this is not easy work, he said it has to be done so we did it.

He was somebody who took drugs off the street

He was a leader

He was my friend and will be truly missed

He was everybody's friend and we will all miss him

This month we spent our time meeting with groups and the community to see if we can assist in any way possible.Regular patrols were completed and new recruits are being trained, although a slow month we are still pushing forward.

12/25/2010 X-MAS day toy drive

Today we were very busy passing out toys at the Billy D Frank community center.

It was great to give to our community and the kids.

People lined up for toys, it went by really fast but was worth it to us. This was The Santa Clara Chapters first toy drive and we learned a lot. Looking forward to doing it again next year. We did have a few left over toys that we will hand out at the local children shelter.

12/23/2010 We passeed out Fiers and Patrol

Today we passed out fliers for the toy drive we are having X-MAS day at the community center and then patrol.

We posted fliers all around the surrounding area of the community center while patrolling the streets, not much to report other than taking alcohol from some guys drinking at the bus stop.

We had only days to find a place that will allow us to hand out toys to children for X-MAS, SJGA's G-FOX stepped up and found a community center that is allowing us to set up and hand out toys on x-mas day.
Thank you Billy D Frank community center for allowing us to do this special event.

We unload the toys and store them in a safe place, G-FOX and volunteers from the community center will be wrapping the presents and getting our area prepared for X-MAS day.

We have a lot of work to and thank everybody involved.

12/21/2010 SJGA's assist SFGA's

Today 12/21/2010 the SJGA's will assist the SFGA's, we were asked to help pick up and deliver x-mas toys that were donated to the Guardian Angels by the United States Marines.

There is 3 of us from SJ, REN, DEXTER and Matt, we arrive in San Mateo to meet the Marines where the toys are stored. Spider from Contra Costa has a 25ft moving truck and meets us there to load the toys. We do so and drive to the SFGA's HQ, Electra and Nemo are there to help unload the truck.

It took a lot work to move the toys into HQ but we finally finished, now the work begins as SF has to sort all the toys. Toys were given to the surrounding chapters to hand out in their community, DEXTER made this happen and we have a short time frame to get ready to hand the toys out.

8/21/2010 Sacramento Patrols

This Saturday 8/21/2010 we the SJGA's will assist the Sacramento chapter in a campaign on 2 separate issues. One will be to hand out fliers with a MUG shot of some low life who had to beat a pregnant woman down and kick her in the stomach. The next will be taking over a Pimp and hooker infested hotel.

First we gather at the SJGA HQ, AKA, RENs house

Next we drive to Sacramento to meet up with the SFGA's at our Nations Capital, we take a few photos and wait for Sacramento to pick us up.

SIR KENT and his chapter arrive and take us to his house for a BBQ before patrol, PS do not let COBRA from the SFGA's cook, just a warning

Fire Tech from the SAC GA's was not present at the time to take control of the fire but the charred burgers were redeemed and we had food that was edible, Sorry COBRA but your chances on food network are slim to none.

All fun aside we gather and meet to hand out the fliers SIR KENT had made for the victim who was brutally beaten for no reason what so ever.

Teams were assigned and we head out to post these fliers on every intersection we can

We were able to this with only one issue, a group of punks (idiots) see us in our colors and start to through gang signs and do what they do to make an ass out of their selves. We post up and they leave, I can go on but no further comment on the kids who have nothing better to do. A good note was the victim of this senseless beating saw us in her neighborhood and we were able to take a picture with her. Michelle Biddle in our minds is a true BRICK, she is in the blue and black checkered shirt in this picture along side of her mother. Michelle, you are in our minds and hearts as we are regular people just like you who will not let anybody intimidate us, we DARE TO CARE.

Next we drive to the hot zone, meet up with more Angels and and prebrief.

We patrol in force with 3 groups covering a lot of ground, team one patrolled the WATTS, a hooker infested street where we observed and deterred hookers from being picked up. To much to write about this as the activity was out of control, we did our part and no body picked up a hooker and no pimp was able to pick up their money maker.

We gather after a long day and night of Guardian Angel work to depart and debrief, Sacramento does a great job in what they are doing to prevent this type of crime. They are all true BRICKS and have a long road to success in their campaign against prostitution. We know they will succeed and push forward.

Sacramento has a great team and positive attitude, we look froward to patrolling with them in the future. BRICKS

Night Patrol every night this week 9th thru 13th

We continued our neighborhood watch every night this week patrolling surrounding neighborhoods, same situations just kids hanging around. We talk to everybody we can, we try to recruit new members, we have a few potential candidates so we will follow up this week. We ran our park patrols in down town San Jose, we as usual handed out as much material as possible. We will keep pushing and moving forward to continue our quest to Dare To Care.

2010 World Conference August 5,6,7,8th In SF California

The Guardian Angels world conference, this gathering of Angels from around the globe is an experience in itself, four days of seminars, training and patrolling.

We had news coverage, Ren again in front of the camera.

There were patrols (this is what we do).

We had Chapter meetings with Curtis.

We made friends for life, this is priceless to our chapter and we will keep in touch with everybody we met and hope to one day patrol with every chapter we meet.

This event passed so fast but our chapter learned so much from each and every person we talked to. We will continue our quest to DARE TO CARE and to work within our community. We thank all we have met in the past four days and wish everybody a safe journey home, stay BRICKS!!!!!

Week of 7/30/10 Neighborhood watch

This week our chapter conducted neighborhood patrols in the San Jose area at the request of a concerned citizen. Not much to report but a few kids hanging around where they were not welcomed, we asked that they leave and go home. We came to this area each night and basically did the same thing until they got the message. There are now 8 to 10 residents taking over what we trained them to do. Good job to them, we will check in each week to see how they are doing.

7/24/2010 Today surrounding Chapters of the Guardian Angels were invited to assist the San Francisco Chapter to play basket ball against the SFPD and their youth program.

We arrive on time at the SF HQ in shorts and Basket Ball shoes ready to do our part

We take off to the local YMCA to meet up with the SFPD and their youth program team members

This was an opportunity to work with the community, this is what we do as Guardian Angels, the SFPD welcomes us and the youth respect us. The members of the YMCA now understand what we do and thanked us for doing what we do. There are patrols scheduled tonight and Police have to get back to their patrols so we thank each other and off we go.

We would like to thank everybody involved, it was nice to see the Sacramento Chapter again and we thank the San Francisco Chapter Guardian Angels for inviting us. Until next time, BRICKS!!!

7/17/2010 California Leadership meeting

Today we have chapters from surrounding areas to discuss the 2010 conference which will be held in San Fransisco, California this year. There are many topics to discuss and jobs for everybody in preparation for Angels from around the world to gather.

Thus far we have the Banner made, you can check it out in the picture below, there is much to do so we all will be very busy in the next few weeks.

Next topic is Oakland, California, a community in which they just laid off 80 police officers in one of the worst areas for crime in the Bay Area. We discuss what we as Guardian Angels can do to help out. The local news was there, so you can check out the coverage at the following link.

Guardian Angels Patrol Sant Cruz California 6/26/2010

Last Month the San Jose Chapter Guardian Angels received a call from citizens in Santa Cruz. They asked if we could help out in starting a chapter there as the gang violence is increasing. We immediately started the planning process by first meeting with the citizens who contacted us so we can understand what is going on.

Patrol routs were organized and mapped out, near by chapters were contacted and transportation was arranged.

Once we had our game plan in place The San Francisco and Stockton Guardian Angels agreed to come along for this effort in starting a new Chapter in Santa Cruz and also help out in any way they can.
This day began with the SJGA's picking up the transport vans, the meeting place is at the SFGA's HQ we arrive on time to pick up the Angels and have a 2 hour drive to Santa Cruz.

We arrive in Santa Cruz and meet up with Sarge the San Jose Chapter leader, he met with the individuals who want to join the GA's and try to start their own chapter. The media was there so we conducted some interviews. You can read them at the following links:

Everybody is paired up and we begin our patrol through the streets of Santa Cruz.

We do our usual, we sweep the parks, the streets and pass out fliers to everybody we can for recruitment. We post up where we feel we can make the biggest presence.

The only issue we had encountered was a group of protesters cussing at us and telling us they do not want us there, we post up on them and try to calm the situation but they kept it up to the point we had no choice but to call the police. The police arrived so naturally they calm down, we left the area after is was clear and moved on. We did run into them again but it was not as bad as the first encounter so we moved on. We marched back to our meeting place, talked with our contacts and hopefully they will follow up and step up to Dare To Care.

Now the long drive back to the SFGA's HQ to drop off that Chapter and drive back to SJ to return the vans, it was a long day but we did our part in helping out a community that asked for our help. We will follow up with SC and go from there.

Tenderlion Night Patrol with the SFGA's 6/19/2010

This Saturday night we the Santa Clara County GA"s assisted the SFGA's on a night patrol in the Tenderloin, we called the SFGA's and asked if we could do this as we have 2 New Jacks that need street training. The Tenderloin is a perfect training ground as you get everything from Dope smokers to Gang Bangers and everything in between. We got our wish tonight as everything that could happen happened, our New Jacks were put to the test, Eli (No code name yet) was placed at my 6, at the back of the pack with COBRA an experienced SFGA. Our other New Jack Jerry (code name possible RAMBO) was placed on team 2 with Zorro another experienced Angel.

Team one will be lead by Santa Clara Chapter leader REN assisted by second in command of the SFGA's Scorpion, we will be observed by SFGA's chapter leader J.D
Team 2 will be lead by SFGA's ZORRO assisted by Santa Clara county New Jack Jerry, possible code name (RAMBO). Observed by Senior leader GREENCARD. We have first aid Techs on both teams and are ready to move out. We PreBrief assign teams and move on

Now the teams are ready to hit the streets, we march to the TL it is not far from our HQ, the first street we observe is Turk St. We post up on a few corners to where we run off the drug dealers, we stop at the 201 Turk building to talk to the desk clerk there, it is all clear.

We next hit the parks that are known to have drug dealers and crack heads there, we park sweep cleaning up the trash, needles and everything else we can find that can hurt a kid playing or just somebody simply sitting down on a dirty needle.

We then marched to Van Ness, as we got there, their where police everywhere, the police had gang members handcuffed, the (Fillmore Kids), they where going to jail and we did not ask why, so we marched on.
We did post up on their Homies that were across the street watching what was going on but they were calm and eventually moved on.

We then marched to one of our HOT SPOTS a parking garage, it was not to bad but we did pick up a few needles, the rest of the area is all clear. We next begin to check out the alley's, the first one we checked we take a crack pipe off a male, we advise him to get into treatment and never to return to this alley ever again, the rest is all clear. The next alley we checked there was broken beer bottles and a few needles, it is all clear now. Our next stop is Cobra's Corner, this is another HOT SPOT, we get there, we post up, all the bad guys are yelling at us, cussing at us, but we stayed focus and we stayed posted up, it calms down, it is now all clear.
We then march to the 631 Hamilton building to talk to the security there, it is all clear. We are now on O'Farrell St. we post up on a few corners, we check on a few alleys, everything is all clear. Our next stop is another park, we get there, we check it out, we talk to the family's and the kids in the park, only one bad thing we find a box knife on the ground, so we confiscate it. As we where beginning to leave the park we ran into an old school member, he was excited to see that the Guardian Angels are still around, he was thankful to see us out in this neighborhood, the park is all clear.

We then march on through more alleys, through more streets, as we where about to call it a night we come up on a female smoking crack in a doorway, we stopped her and took her pipe and took her drugs, we advised her to get into a treatment center, she said that they don't work. But we smashed the crack on the sidewalk, and we smashed the crack pipe on the sidewalk as well, showing her that this is a bad drug and advised her never to return here again. We are calling it a night, we march to the HQ, one team ahead of the other, still staying focus on all our moves and watching each others back.

The night was full of all sorts of scenarios, you need to be there to understand what we go through, our teams are experienced in street life and how to calm down situations that seem to follow us everywhere. GREENCARD, J.D, SCORPION and the SFGA's we SOLUTE you!!!! Not only are the SFGA's one of the largest chapters but one of the most disciplined and experienced group of Angels we know. Our New Jacks Jerry and Eli had an experience that will lead them into becoming Guardian Angels and roll models in our community.

Santa Clara County Chapter leader "REN"

Play Day at Duboce Park / Asian Heritage Festival 5/15/2010

Saturday 5/15/2010 the San Jose Guardian Angels assisted the SFGA's for two events in San Francisco. There were two teams, one for each event.

Team 1 was led by LION and GREENCARD. They will be patrolling the Asian Heritage Festival.

Team 2 will be at the "Play Day at Duboce Park" festival, where we were invited. This is a fundraiser for children's programs. We were able to have a booth, which we set up to educate people about who we are and what we do, and to also get new recruits for those that were interested. We also put out candy for the children. REN of San Jose and SCORPION had a team of nine Guardian Angels for this event.

First we arrive at the SFGA's HQ on time for a prebrief and team assignments. We also discuss upcoming events.

Next we post up outside HQ before departing to our events, this is a normal exercise that we perform as it gets everybody focused and team members are assigned. We use radios for communication and have two first-aid techs for each team.

We march out to our assignments in formation.

Team 2 arrives to set up the booth at the "Play Day at Duboce Park" event. We hand out fliers, talk to everybody who is interested and give out candy to the kids.

Team 1 arrives to assist in anyway they can, then moves on to the Asian Heritage Festival. They make a very strong presence, focused, in formation and ready to patrol.

Team 2 will now do our community service, talking to everybody we can to discuss what we do and why we do it. We also send out a team of four to patrol the perimeter. We do this every hour to ensure that the kids and families are safe.

We also had the privilege to take a picture with some of the entertainers.

It's now time to pack it up and assist Team 1 at the Asian Heritage Festival. We take our booth material back to HQ. While we were unloading our stuff in front of HQ, a person comes up to us and hands us a flier of a missing person. This was a 15 year old girl. Our younger Angels immediately recognized her and went on Facebook to verify it was her, and it was. They will follow up with friends and the community to help find her. Hopefully soon we can provide an update to this.

We now head out to the Asian Heritage Festival to help out Team 1.

We arrive and post up waiting to connect with Team 1.

This is a festival where there is a lot going on, so we stay focused. We meet up with Team 1 and patrol the festival for a few hours. A local Radio Station 106KMEL had a booth near where we were posted and asked if they could take a photo of us.

This was a good patrol as nothing really happened. There were a few drunks, a few people yelling at us, and your usual people who really do not understand what we do, so they disrespect us. Other than that, we all arrived back to HQ safe.

*On another note, we received a call from Gemini, the LA Chapter Leader, that one of the members, Richard Garcia, had passed away. Gemini also invited us to attend the funeral. Since it was a short notice, we were not able to attend but were able to pay our respects to him, by wearing black ribbons on our colors over our hearts for our brother, who died of natural causes. Also, before we even headed out into the streets to these events, we said a prayer honoring our brother and also his family. We dedicated this day to him. Rest in peace brother.

Saturday 4-24-2010 Mission Patrol at SF

Saturday 4-24-2010 the San Jose/Santa Clara County Guardian Angels assisted the San Francisco Guardian Angels with 2 patrols and a 3 hour Martial Arts workout. Pictured below are the teams for this day, one team of 10 was sent to the Mission District for night Patrol by "Green Card". SFGA Scorpion will lead this 10 member unit assisted by Shadow the Richmond Chapter leader. We will be tailed by J.D the SFGA Chapter leader and SIS from San Jose, The Union Square team was lead by Green Card.

The day began with all angels arriving on time at the SF HQ, we are ready to train and learn street smart techniques. SFGA Warrier is the trainer in SF so he will lead the work out.

After 3 hours of pressure point and take down techniques we suit up and post up outside HQ to begin our patrol.

Both teams start by marching down to the Union Square event, from there we will decide if all Angels are needed here or we cover more ground by splitting into 2 teams.

Green Card makes the decision to send a team of 10 to the Mission for Bus patrol, Park Patrol and Alley sweeps, the other team stays at Union Square to help out in any way. We hit the streets and Alley ways.

We post up outside the bars late at night to do what we can to prevent anything from happening.

We hang out in the parks late at night to make sure it is safe for the locals to enjoy their neighborhood.

This patrol was effective, we continue to grow and will never stop recruiting new members to help keep our streets safe for everybody to enjoy. We would like to thank all the Guardian Angels in a job well done this weekend. We would also like to thank the RED CROSS on First street in San Jose for getting our patrol backpacks. We use these on every patrol, pictured below are RED CROSS certified Angels "REN" and "DRAGON" we use the RED CROSS training knowledge to help anybody in need.

The week of 4-16-2010 Neighborhood watch introduction

This week the San Jose Guardian Angels went out each night introducing ourselves to several neighborhoods in our surrounding areas. We passed out fliers and talked to as many people as we can about what our mission is and why we are out so late at night. This is in response to some concerns about the parking areas behind apartment complexes in one certain area so as Angels we checked it out.

We did not find anything there from 8pm till 11pm every night this week so we moved on but will be back to speak to the concerned party. We also posted up near any Neighborhood watch sign we could find to once again introduce ourselves and state why we are here.

We also checked out abandoned buildings in this neighborhood.

Not to much to report on this week, we tried something new this week responding to e-mails from concerned citizens and did everything we can to recruit neighborhood watch leaders.We will continue to our normal patrols and support our surrounding Chapters in any way we can.

4/10/10 Downtown San Jose Patrol

We the San Jose Guardian Angels conducted a day patrol in downtown San Jose. This patrol was used to welcome a relocated member and show her our city. This member is (SIS) and she is an experienced Angel from Philly trained by DOC. Our medic today is LT. REN, he will lead the patrol. We are all in gear and ready to move out. Welcome to San Jose, SIS.

We did our usual patrol starting at Mission and 1st street down to St. John Park.

Nothing going on today at the park so we move on. We go down St. John to 4th, turn right and go up and down all the streets in between until we reach San Jose State University. We post up for a while as there are hundreds of people here for the California Census rally that was going on. Trucks full of people were throwing out t-shirts and hats. We wanted to make sure it was safe for everybody so we stay for a while observing and passing out fliers to recruit new members.

Next we march down 4th to San Salvador where we post up and explain to SIS why we are at this location and what we are looking for.

Now off to Reed and up to Market Street. We now hit the many alleys and empty parking lots where you never know what you will find.

Not much to find today, just beer bottles, whiskey bottles and trash. We cleaned up what we could and moved on down Market to San Antonio. There is the Star Wars convention going on across the street from us and we see some gang bangers in the park, so we post for awhile. As the bad guys move on, Sarge decides to see what SIS has in terms of Martial Arts and/or street fighting skills, so they work out a bit.

Good job SIS, we always continue our training in many areas of self defense and will continue to do so.

We arrive at our meeting place and debrief. We had a good patrol with no issues and a relocated member now familiar with one of many of our patrol areas.

4-03-2010 Northern California Meeting and Patrol

4-03-2010 We the Northern California Guardian Angels meet to discuss the World conference. This meeting had many topics and a long agenda. We pushed through all the details and voted on many items to discuss as we gear up for the World conference. Groups were assigned to tackle tasks and individuals were asked to provide input as to open issues. More to come as we will meet soon to layout the details and agenda.

As usual we patrol, San Francisco, San Pablo, Sacramento and San Jose Guardian Angels went to patrol the Tenderloin. Lion of the San Francisco Chapter led a patrol of 21 Angels which began up O'Farrell Street. Two patrols were split up from one, Lion led patrol one and Apache led the second patrol. The main areas in which we patrolled were Taylor, Levinsworth, Larkin and Post. These areas are known for the drug infestation and hang-outs in the parks and in the alleys. Syringes were found along with paraphernalia- round metal containers with plastic baggies containing tiny cotton balls. Down Town San Jose Patrol week of 3-22-2010

We the San Jose Guardian Angels patrolled the down town area every day this week. It was an eye opening experience as there were only 2 angels patrolling and a whole lot of scenarios. We start at ST. James Park, REN is immediately confronted ( by bad guys) as to who owns this park. We explain we are locals and have the right to be here, The PUNKS ( people who have nothing better to do than hang out and sell drugs) keep telling us to get out of there park. The SJGA's stand ground and do not move, this was a gutsy move as we were out numbered but it worked as they moved on and so did we. We will keep patrolling this park as it is a HOT ZONE were security needs to be. We continue on down to 4th st then ST John to San Carlos, down 2nd to Reed, then Market back tracking all the streets in between. SJGA's in San Francisco for Green Cards 25th Anniversary 3/13/10

We the San Jose Guardian Angels were tasked with making a 25th anniversary card for Freddy Batres, AKA Green Card. Freddy is a dedicated Guardian Angel who has 25 years of community service in the field. Without his guidance and street knowledge it would be difficult to conduct an effective patrol. It is an honor to know him personally, as he is always in training mode on the streets -- look for this or that, you need to always focus, what street are you on -- these are only a few of the things he drills us with constantly as we patrol. With the help of Tyger Shark Graphics, we were able to make this banner in honor of our friend and mentor, Green Card. This is from the Guardian Angels to you GREEN CARD!!

Haight/Ashbury and Bus Patrol 3/6/10

Today, Saturday, March 6th, 2010, the San Jose Guardian Angels will be training with the SFGA's. I know as you read our blog it sounds like we do not patrol the San Jose area. At this time we are still in the recruitment stages to get dedicated members to join our Chapter. When we do have a trained team in place, we will be actively patrolling the San Jose area. In the mean time we will continue to train with the San Francisco Chapter Guardian Angels. The SFGA's are very experienced and have been actively patrolling the streets for many years, the following is an example of what we encounter on our patrols.

Today's patrol will be in the Height & Ashbury district along with two bus patrols, bus #71 and bus #38. This patrol will take approximately 8 to 9 hours. We meet at the SFGA headquarters for a prebrief and split into two teams. Team 1 will be lead by SFGA's J.D. along with SJGA's Sarge. Team 2 will be lead by SFGA's Scorpion, tailed by SJGA's Shadow. We have two first aid techs, one on each team, and two radios for communication on each team. We head out to the streets down 5th to catch the #71 bus.

We all know what to look for on bus patrol -- that is drugs, drinking, and graffiti. We also cover the back doors as to not allow on any freeloaders. All clear as we arrive in the Haight & Ashbury district. We march down the main street of the area in force, down to the main entrance of Golden Gate park. J.D. notifies the park rangers that we will conduct a patrol in the park.

We patrol the park looking for anything out of the ordinary. We check spots that appear to be where people squat for the night. We find needles, knifes, whiskey bottles and trash. This was all found 10 feet from where children are playing. It is important that we dispose of these items. Can you imagine if your child stumbled upon one of these items?

Once we thought the park was clear, a group of people came up to us and said there was a guy laying on the grass not moving. We marched out to check it out.

We came across an unconscious guy that was all beat up, lacerations all over his face and what appeared to be a huge cut on the back of his head. We called 911 as our medic attended to him.

Thanks to our experienced medic, he was revived and alert by the time the ambulance arrived. He needed medical attention and was taken to the hospital. We left the park to conduct our second bus patrol on the #71, all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This will be more of a training exercise than a patrol, as we find there is no crime, drugs, or violence in the area we are going. It also shows we can adapt to any environment and still stay focused. This beach walk will also be a good work out, as we are a Safety Patrol team that walks the streets for hours, so we need to keep up with our conditioning.

After a long day training at the beach, we march out to the streets to catch the #38 bus back to headquarters. Bus patrol was all clear and we pretty much had a good patrol and training day, patrolled the streets, parks and buses. We debrief and head home. We the San Jose Guardian Angels would like to thank the San Francisco Chapter Guardian Angels for all their help.

Recuitment/Patrol Outing Canceled 2/27/10

Its raining, we decided to cancel our recruitment outing tonight that we have been preparing for in downtown San Jose and planning for weeks in advance. It is unfortunate but we cannot predict the weather. We the San Jose Guardian Angels are focused and dedicated on building a team of dedicated members to assist our community any way we can.

This is also an opportunity to work on our self defense training, so tonight we will work on full contact maneuvers, disarms, take downs, hand cuffing and self defense tactics. Off to the DOJO.

While we will be at the studio working on our training and conditioning, our administration Guardian Angel code name "WEB" will be hard at work. "WEB" keeps all our records and documents in place along with making all our handout material and organizing all our activities.

Richmond and Oakland Recruitment/Patrol 2/20/10

On Saturday 2/20/10, chapters from Northern California (Sacramento, Stockton, Solano County, San Pablo, San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco) answered the call from our state coordinators to assist Shadow, the chapter leader from the city of Richmond, to recruit members and start patrolling the city due to the high areas of crime that were spreading throughout the nearby counties.

We used public transit systems and BART to get to the El Cerito Del Norte Bart Station, this is another opportunity to train and serve as a visual deterrent as we are in uniform and focused on a commitment to our community's safety.

Cristina, the coordinator, gathered all leaders and started making the plan for the day.

We decided to split in two groups, one of each side of the street. Green Card, Spider and Scorpion lead the first group, while Sir Kent, Omar and Cristina led the second.

We started walking down on San Pablo Ave. to McDonald Ave. Then we walked toward 23rd St. On the way there, we decided to pass by 28th St. While we were walking in the neighborhood, some residents were outside their houses and we started introducing ourselves. We told them what we were trying to do in the city. We gave some fliers out and noticed that some people were afraid, but others were glad to see us there.

On the way to Cutting Blvd. we noticed that some residents started taking pictures of us from inside their houses and they gave us the "thumbs-up" signal. They were happy when we told them that we were going to start patrolling the area in the near by future.

Then we went to Oakland to patrol the Fruitvale area. Cristina led the group. We patrolled the International Blvd. all the way to the Oakland GA's Headquarters. Everything went okay. There were no incidents at all.

Richmond and Oakland went well. There was a positive attitude from the community. We handed out lots of fliers and hopefully we will hear from new recruits.

We debriefed and traveled home.

Recruitment Material is ready 2/19/10

On 2/18/10 We the SJGA's and 3 future junior GA's arrived at the Hillview Printing shop in Morgan Hill, CA. The owner of the shop, Bank of Mom, has generously donated their time and material to print the fliers we created last weekend. These will be used for recruiting new members all over the bay area. Pictured below, they were used 2/20/10 in Richmond and Oakland for recruiting new members. They will also be used soon in a recruitment effort in the San Jose area. Thank you to all the great people at the Hillview Print shop and thanks for walking the San Jose junior Guardian Angels through the printing process.

SJGA's prepare for recruitment outing 2/13/10

Over the weekend, we the San Jose Guardian Angels worked on getting our hand-out materials ready for a downtown San Jose recruitment outing we are planning. It takes a lot of time and effort to do this as we volunteer our time and try to access every available resource to get not only the best price for our material but also be able to handout a professional flier. These should be adequate, you are looking at the front and back of a sample we will take to the Hillview Print shop in Morgan Hill, CA. They will make it look professional.

Pictured on our fliers is Sarge (SJ Chapter leader) and Shadow of the SJGA's along with some of the dedicated members of the San Francisco Guardian Angel Chapter. I cannot say enough about the SFGA's as they do not miss a Patrol and it is an honor to train with them as we, with the help of the SFGA's build the San Jose Chapter into a smart and solid team of volunteers dedicated to our community. Sarge and I, Shadow, will continue our effort to create a community team and do everything we can to "Dare to Care". This is our Motto and we will stick to it. San Jose joins San Francisco Tenderloin Patrol 2/06/10

Saturday February 6th 2010, we the San Jose Guardian Angels will be patrolling the Tenderloin Dist training with the SFGA's. The San Jose chapter leader is Sarge, everyone has arrived on time and now we are ready to get the patrol started, we begin with prebrief, we are all in uniform, we will be using all the radio's for communication. This patrol will be a little different but basically the same tour, the patrol leader for today is Shadow from San Jose, he will lead team one and J.D. with Sarge will lead team two and now we are ready to head out to the TL.

Shadow marches the teams to 5th & Market, we post up, it is All Clear. Next we march to Turk St. as soon as we hit Turk St. the SFPD sees our patrol, they then called us over to shake our hands and to thank us for being out on the streets. Next we get to the 201 Turk building, we post up, it is All Clear.

Next we march to the Turk-Hyde Mini Park, we check out the park perimeter, it is All Clear. Next we march to Jones St. & Ellis St. (AKA) Cobra's Corner, we post up, there was a drug dealer or two but soon as they seen us they headed down the road, it is now All Clear.

Next we march to O'Farrell St. & Jones St. we post up in the middle of the block, there was some crack smoking but it stop as soon as they seen us, but what caught our attention was a homeless female going through her things, she then pulled out an orange to offer it to an angel, this had touch us in some way that we had never seen before. We could not except it, we just had to stay focus on the people that were yelling at us and calling us all kinds of names until it had calmed down, it is now All Clear.

Next we marched to the 631 The Hamilton building, we post up, by doing this a community leader for the building & neighborhood stopped to talk to us to invited the angels for a community meeting on Friday, we agreed and we will be looking forward for this meeting. As Guardian Angels this is what we do, we will work with you to make it a safe neighborhood, to make it a safe community, and to make it a safe city, and this is why we should work together.

Next we march to Sergeant John Macaulay Park, we check out the park perimeter, it is All Clear. Next we check out the alley-ways, no bad guys here, this will give us some time to take a few photo's, the alleys are All Clear.

Now we had reached Van Ness and it is getting late, Shadow has decided to call it a patrol, we then begin to march down Van Ness to Geary St.

We then make a left to march down Geary St. all the way to 5th & Market St. we post up for a minute to catch our breath. Next we march to the HQ, we get to Mission St. we make a right, march down a bit and there is the HQ. Everyone is in the office to begin debrief, to discuss how the patrol went, and to discuss how everyone did, but one thing did stand out.

San Jose Guardian Angels Creating Banners and Signs 1/30/10

We the San Jose Guardian Angels spent the weekend making decals, banners, and signs. We would like to thank PAPA and NANA B for the paper, materials and time to make this happen. San Jose Guardian Angels attend Alviso, CA Neighborhood Group Meeting 1/27/10

We the San Jose Guardian Angels attended a neighborhood group meeting in our neighboring city of Alviso CA. There were many topics covered so the SJ GA's payed close attention to see where the Guardian Angels can help. There were a few concerns about neighborhoods with heavy foot traffic at night that residents are concerned about. We exchanged information with the local residents and stated that we the Guardian Angles would be happy to arrange a neighborhood watch in their HOT ZONES with the locals and conduct some night patrols. We are looking forward to it as usual. We would like to thank the City of Alviso for the invitation and also the SJPD.

Handcuff Training, 1/16/10

Saturday January 16th 2010, we the San Jose Guardian Angels attended the San Francisco Chapter Handcuff Training. This handcuff training will be passed on to the SFGA and the SJGA chapters by one of the Sheriff's Dept. finest. The training will consist of, (1) Type of handcuffs used, (2) Handcuff Procedures, (3) Arrest Procedures, (4) and Safety Procedures. We the SFGA are always grateful and thankful to receive training, this also helps the chapters and its members to do a better job as angels. Next is for everyone to show up on time, and everyone did, so this training went very good and the trainer did a very good job, we will be asking this trainer back again in the future.

San Jose Joins SF Tenderloin night patrol, 1/9/10

Saturday January 9th 2010, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be doing a night patrol in the Tenderloin Dist. All the angels start arriving around 2:00pm to change into uniforms and to do prebrief, Greencard is here to advise the angels on up-coming events. On this night Cobra will be patrol leader, I J.D. and Scorpion will be observers, there are two certified first aid angels, we will be using all radios for communication, we have all of this for the team tonight. We prebrief, we are in uniform, we are partnered up, and now we are ready to head out into the streets of the Tenderloin Dist.

Cobra begins by marching the team to Turk St. we get to 201 Turk St. Apts. we post up for awhile, All Clear. Next we march to Turk-Hyde Mini Park, we post up, we check the perimeter, picked up some broken glass bottles, it is now All Clear. Cobra then marches the team to Van Ness to check on a hot spot, a parking garage, we get there, we pick up some dirty needles and put them into our BIO-Container's, the area is now All Clear.

Next we marched to Eddy St. we get to a corner and notice a man injured, laying on the sidewalk, we post up, first aid angels observed him, he had a head concussion, we called for EMT's, they arrived, they looked him over and took him to the hospital

Cobra then yells lets move out, next we march into the alley-ways focusing on what we might run into next and we are all ready to back each other up. "Man oh man", is a term used to say when you know someone is using DRUGS but denies it. As we walked up to these homeless men camped out in this alley-way, there were needles in front of them with dope still in them, we asked them who did they belong to? they said the needles weren't theirs. Cobra then explains to them that they needed to leave the area, we then picked up the needles, pushed out the dope from the needles, put them into the BIO-Containers, this is all we could do, we had no proof it was theirs.

Next we march to Cobra's Corner, Ellis St. & Jones St. as soon as we get there we take a crack pipe off a crackhead, a crackhead is a bad term for someone that is addicted to crack, but this is what they are called because they do nothing else but use this drug. They do not care if they eat, they do not care where they sleep, they do not care how they look and they never have NO money, this is addiction. So we smash the crack pipe on the street and tell him to get into treatment and we move on, we move on to O'Farrell St. post up on some corners, but they are All Clear.

Next we get to 631 O'Farrell St. Apts. we post up, Cobra then decides to send Scorpion and some angels across street to check out this small alley-way. Scorpion and his team came back with a crack pipe and a some marijuana that they took from a man, he told Scorpion that this was his first time doing this and that he will never do it again, so Scorpion made him leave the area and explained to him never to return here ever again. We then smashed the crack pipe on the street and scattered the pot on the street, in front of all angels because we do not take any drugs back to the HQ.

Next we march to Sergeant John Macaulay Park, we post up, we check the perimeter, picked up some broken glass bottles, it is now All Clear. Cobra is ready to call it a night, but we still have to march ourselves out of the TL, we stay focus and we stay alert, we go down this block, we go down that block until we get to the HQ.

We are back SAFE and we are little tired, we now began our debrief, this is where all the angels put there hearts on the table and say what this patrol meant and what they had learned, this was a very productive patrol.
